Turkey's national airline, Turkish Airlines, will be renamed Türkiye Hava Yolları, changing its international name to Turkish.
“Turkey is no more, there isTürkiye. From now on, on the fuselage of our aircraft, we will write Türkiye Hava Yolları instead of Turkish Airlines”, Interfax quotes the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
This decision was made in for the purpose of recognition in the international arena of Turkey as Türkiye, not Turkey. It is expected that this will increase the prestige of the country.
It is specified that in June of this year, the Turkish authorities sent a letter to the UN, in which they asked to change the name of the country in all documents. The UN granted the request and registered the name of the country as the Republic of Türkiye.
