The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Federal Air Transport Agency, is making every effort to resolve the issue related to the ban on the passage through the airspace of Jordan for a number of Russian air carriers. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.
“Due to the restrictions imposed by the aviation authorities of Jordan under pressure from the European Commission, some domestic airlines carrying tourists from Russia to the resorts of Egypt and back are forced to delay flights and build alternative flight routes,” she said.

«At the same time, we proceed from the fact that Jordan is a state friendly to Russia, and do not consider the decision taken in Amman as politically motivated and directed against the interests of our countries. We hope that we will be able to remove the concerns that have arisen among partners regarding the safety of domestic aircraft, which have all the necessary documents for transit flights through Jordanian airspace, including insurance policies issued in accordance with ICAO recommendations. Russia fully fulfills its obligations in the field of flight safety in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation of 1944 and the intergovernmental agreement on air transport concluded between Russia and Jordan in 2009,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman emphasized.
