The Tourism Authority of Thailand is discussing with Thai AirAsia X the possibility of launching direct charter flights with cities in the eastern part of Russia, in particular with Novosibirsk and Vladivostok.

The discussion was initiated by the six largest tour operators in Thailand. They doubt that they will be able to achieve their goal of attracting 1 million Russian tourists in 2022. From January 1 to June 24 of this year, 65.5 thousand Russians arrived in the country. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Vladivostok.
In addition, tour operators fear that they could potentially lose the market in favor of Vietnam. VietJet Air is in the process of obtaining permission to operate direct flights to the Russian cities of Novosibirsk, Vladivostok and Krasnoyarsk.
It is known that Thai AirAsia X intends to work out insurance issues, the required aircraft capacity and lay out specific routes within a week, after which will inform the Tourist Board of the decision.
