The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has approved the introduction of a visa for digital nomads.
Sri Lankan authorities introduce visa for digital nomads
Visa for digital nomads does not grant rights to work for companies in Sri Lanka, the foreign national must work remotely as an employee, business owner or freelancer receiving income from abroad.
Proof of monthly income of $2,000 is required to obtain a visa. The applicant will be required to transfer this minimum amount to a bank account in Sri Lanka. Documents confirming the purpose of the trip (employment contract or rental agreement) and international health insurance are also required.
The cost of the visa is $500, and it covers the applicant's spouse and dependents, so the family can also move on the visa .
The visa is issued for a year and can then be extended if the income remains the same or higher.
