The Central Bank of Sri Lanka may reconsider the possibility of launching cards of the MIR payment system.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Janita Liyanage sent a request to the Central Bank of her country to reconsider the launch of MIR cards. “Negotiations on the use of MIR cards are underway. I sent a request for this to the central bank of Sri Lanka. This issue is currently being discussed,”, – RIA Novosti reports the words of the ambassador.
It is clarified that at present tourists have the opportunity to issue a local VISA card as part of the project of the National Investment and Industrial Bank and People's Bank Bank, where a tourist can remotely create an account and apply for a card, and receive it upon arrival in Sri Lanka.
