iFly Airlines plans to launch charters from Vladivostok to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, from where Russians can be transported to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
The air carrier has already received permission to operate charter flights on the Vladivostok-Vientiane route. The decision was also agreed with the government of Laos, which promised that the Russian wide-body Airbus 330 would not be arrested. This is reported by the portal VL.RU with reference to the Honorary Consul of Laos in Vladivostok Alexander Virich.
It is expected that the first charters will fly in the second half of August or early September. Flights will be operated four times a week.
Vientiane is planned to be stopped as a hub, since the geographical position of the republic can allow tourists to visit the resorts of Thailand, Vietnam, get acquainted with the sights of Cambodia and travel to South China.
Laos has already agreed with Thailand the conditions for crossing the border for Russian tourists. It will be possible to use the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to move travelers. At the same time, tour operators, if necessary, will have to organize temporary resettlement of tourists before crossing the Thai border. It is reported that this will be included in the cost of the tour.
This initiative will allow residents of central Russia and Siberia to fly to Laos via Vladivostok. Also, the issue of filling return flights from Vientiane to Vladivostok with tourists from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam is under study.
