Aeroflot is forced to operate flights on an extended route due to Laos' ban on flying over the country's territory.
The aviation authorities of Laos do not confirm Aeroflot's application for a flight over their territory, and therefore the carrier, when operating flights from Vladivostok to Thailand flies on a modified route, which includes an intermediate landing for refueling. This was reported by news agency REGNUM.
Aeroflot is currently negotiating with the country's aviation authorities to resolve the situation. It is specified that other Russian companies receive permission to fly over the territory of Laos.
