Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili believes that the visa-free regime with Russia may be revised due to the large number of Russians who come to Georgia.
“It is possible that we will have to revise the visa-free regime, which in today's conditions is quite liberal . All this should be decided by the government together with society”, TASS quotes the statement of the President of Georgia.
Salome Zurabishvili stressed that the mass arrival of Russians in the republic is a challenge for the country. She also noted that people from Georgia often come, who at one time lost their citizenship of the republic or are holders of dual citizenship.
According to the data of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia, in the period from January to September 2022, Russians made more than 780 thousand tourist trips to the republic. This was 5.5 times more than the figure for the same period in 2021.
