Cruise ship A luxury fishing trawler that ran aground in a remote part of Greenland with 206 people on board has been freed.

The cruise ship Ocean Explorer became stuck Monday in mud and mud in Alpefjord National Park, 870 miles away ( 1,400 km) northeast of Greenland's capital, Nuuk.

“We have just successfully freed ourselves… We are absolutely happy,” Australian passenger Gina Hill told Reuters on Thursday. Hill said the Ocean Explorer tilted on its side during the operation and passengers were not allowed to exit.

The Danish Armed Forces' Joint Arctic Command confirmed that the vessel was freed by a fishing trawler.

By SunStone Maritime Group, which owns the cruise ship, said the Ocean Explorer will be taken to port to assess the damage and passengers will be flown home. “Not a single person on board was injured, there was no environmental pollution or holes in the ship’s hull,” SunStone said in a statement.
