Al Ula International Airport receives first Flynas flight from Cairo

Starting in October flynas began operating flights on the Al Ula Cairo route. On the occasion of the inaugural flight, which took place on October 6, a solemn ceremony was held at the airport with the participation of representatives of the airline and the Royal Commission for the Development of the Al Ula Region (RCU).

The airline confirmed that the launch of the flight connecting Cairo and Al-Ula is in full accordance with the plan of the Saudi Vision 2030 program, which aims to strengthen the position of Al-Ula as an international tourist destination with a rich history and culture. The new flight also has a positive effect on the transport accessibility of the region for international tourists.

Phillip Jones, director of marketing at RCU, said: “Today we welcome the establishment of a physical link between two cities of great historical and cultural significance. This was made possible by flynas' first direct flight between Al-Ula and Cairo. With increased domestic and international air travel from AlUla, we will continue to build a sustainable tourism ecosystem in a region renowned for its stunning scenery, cultural attractions and world-class events.”

Today Al-Ula is unique festivals, amazing nature, art, history, culture, wellness and adventure. And in ancient times, the region played an important role for caravan traders who transported incense from the south of the Arabian Peninsula to the north, to Egypt. Merchants stopped at the fertile oasis of Al-Ula to rest and replenish their water and food supplies.

Along with the first flight, which took place on October 6, the famous Egyptian singer Angam flew to Al-Ula, performing at Maray. Due to the huge popularity of the performer in Saudi Arabia, tickets for the concert were sold out instantly.

Flights between Cairo and Al-ula will operate 2 times a week, on Saturdays and Thursdays.

Also the airline announced the resumption of flights from Al-Ula to Riyadh, Dammam and Dubai, flights for each of the directions will also be operated 2 times a week. By the way, it was flynas that became the first airline to operate international flights from Al Ula: the first flight to Dubai took place in November 2021.

The flynas route network includes more than 70 destinations. The airline's fleet of 38 aircraft has reached 60 million passengers since its inception in 2007.
